Board Member Roles and Responsibilities

As a board member, you will:

  • Strategic Planning: Actively participate in shaping and implementing the organization's strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Program Support: Provide input and support to the development and enhancement of programs that directly benefit young adults experiencing homelessness.

  • Community Engagement: Assist in building and maintaining relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and potential collaborators to strengthen the organization's impact.

  • Advocacy: Advocate for policies and initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by young adults experiencing homelessness.

  • Fundraising: Contribute to fundraising efforts by leveraging personal networks, identifying potential donors, and actively participating in fundraising events.

  • Governance: Adhere to governance best practices, attend board meetings regularly, and actively participate in board discussions and decision-making.

  • Volunteerism: Support the organization through volunteer activities and engagement, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A passion for KHYP’s mission and youth homelessness advocacy.

  • Willingness to actively participate in board meetings, committee work, and organizational events.

  • Skills and expertise in areas such as fundraising, marketing, legal, finance, or program development.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
